Well, we took a night bus from Caldera to Santiago and arrived about 11 in the morning, took the metro to our hostel, La Chimba and had a great day finalizing a few different things. We needed to confirm and pay for our reservation for our ferry ride down into Patagonia, look into getting a new camera since our other camera has pretty much died, and go to a ticket office and buy tickets to Paul Van Dyk!! Josie, our Aussie friend had seen him play in Buenos Aires and said it was a great show, and since we've seen him a few times thought it would be great to see him in Chile too!

The next day, we did a wine tour of the Concha y Toro vineyard just outside Santiago which was pretty interesting.  Concha y Toro is the largest vineyard in all of South America, and probably about 10th in the world, it was quite an operation!  One of the fun things about the tour itself, they poured us glasses of wine and we got to enjoy the wine while we walked around and saw the vineyard itself

In the evening we were back at La Chimba where they had a wine tasting.  Ian, the manager of La Chimba and an American that has lived in Chile for 16 years, gives a wine tasting each week of an assortment of different Chilean wines.  It was pretty fun, there were 8 of us total and some other travelers from the UK, South Africa, and Holland.  It was interesting to try the different wines, including one type of wine made from a grape called Carmenere that is only grown in Chile now, and try and guess which ones were the cheapest to most expensive.  The wines ranged in price from 1500 pesos (about 3 dollars) to 4500 pesos (9 dollars), the 4500 peso bottle of wine would probably go for almost $100 in a restaurant, it was very good!!

After the wine tasting, we rested up a bit and went to go and see Paul Van Dyk...  He put on a great show, and we ended up getting back to our hostel around 4:30 am...  a long night, but well worth it!!
