Got up around 9 and Lawrie and I walked EVERYWHERE! The fantastic thing about San Fran is that if you are even moderately fit, you can walk anywhere you want to go and save a mountain of money in transport. We just headed for any interesting rooftop we could see. On the way to no-where-in-particular, we passed Saks department store where (and yes I don't agree with buying fur coats either) but OH MY GOD- the fur coat I tried on was absolutley FABULOUS!!! It was worth US$95,000 which translates to about $120,000 Australian dollars! Despite having always been against the fur trade, I had to admit that it was DIVINE.
From there we went up through China Town to an amazing Episcopalian church we'd seen from afar and met a lovely gentleman called Morris- an artist at the information booth there. We chatted for an age (people in San Fran are very friendly- very similar people to Brisbane, but more liberal), and then walked down to Fishermans Wharf which is like Side Show Alley at the Ekka, but smells of fish.
If you are on a budget, you can do very well here due to the extraordinary number of inexpensive diners, so after eating at a diner called Lauries we walked back past the TransAmerica building to home.
After a quick lay down, we met Burt and his boyfriend, had dinner in the hotels' restaurant, then went out for a few quiet drinks.
