We wake from a night of monsoon level rain to no rain....for a moment.  Then the deluge begins.  It's rained very hard and steady since 6;30am  (it's now 9:30).  We dinked around over breakfast and now are dinking around the internet hoping things will let up.  We need to go to the shoe shop at 11ish and the tailors around 3pm.  We'd planned to hit the central market this morning, but, the water wasn't quite deep enough to swim there and who wants to wade!

A couple of weeks ago the town flooded to several feet, so we're hoping for the best.  We'd planned this section of the trip for relaxation, so, no worries.

The weather cooperated and stopped raining around 11am...mostly stopped.  There was a bit more drizzle, but the afternoon was fine.  We wandered over in the rain to the shoe shop.  The boots are spectacular and fit great ..as are the rest of the shoes.  They needed to finish a little work on one pair of Joe's shoes, so we'll go back over and pick them up later.

We wandered about town a bit checking out the neighborhood on the other side of the Japanese covered bridge.  There was a great propaganda poster store there.  Didn't buy anything, though.  Ran into the NZ ladies again and teased that that they were wearing native garb:  rain ponchos.  Everyone in Hoi An wears a rain poncho and drapes it over their bike or moto when driving.

We popped into a little place for lunch and I got the Hoi An style pancake...kind of a crepe/omelete combo.  It was good, but I was starting not to feel to good.

Then off to the tailor again for a clothing fitting.  Still a few adjustments to be made and one pair of pants that I need lined.

By the time we left the tailor, I felt terrible.  Apparently the 'fresh milk' I put in my coffee this morning was raw (unpasturized) milk and I have problems with that sort of thing.  I told Joe that I'd lay down a bit and he could go run around.  Soon I progressed to traveler's two step and throwing up.  It was an ugly night, but the Imodium worked it's magic by morning.  So, I lay in bed yesterday evening watching "Night at the Museum"  (seen it before, still cute) and "Butterfly on a Wheel" (a horrid movie).

Joe went out on the town and had dinner without me.  Poor guy came back between rounds of stomach issues...I was surprised he didn't leave again.  I would have!
