NOTE:  No blogging from Sapa because the Internet connection was archaicly slow....and we didn't have wireless on the boat in Ha Long Bay...so here's a brief catch up from our $30 a night hotel that includes a computer in our room with internet connection in Hue.  (Check back to previous days.)

The next morning I was up early (6am) and the guide asked if I wanted to go out and kayak by myself. So I hopped in a sit-on-top (we'd been using double sea kayaks) and took a 45 minute paddle in the early morning quiet. Few tourist boats had people stirring (including ours) and only the fishermen were out paddling. It was really nice. I bought a water from a 7-11 lady as I paddled past and thought about not going back for 7am breakfast.

After breakfast we paddled into the lagoon we'd seen before and it was awash in trash. It's a shame because it was so beautiful the previous day.

We had an early lunch as we were motored back to the mainland, took pictures of our group and traded email addresses as Joe was the only one taking pix on the kayaking portions and said goodbye as we were broken up into different vans on the teeming dock.

Our van was 30 min late as they had to make a hospital stop for someone who was sick. We napped through a bit of the 3 hr drive, but the driver was terrible and it was hard to get comfortable. We got dropped at a very stylish restaurant called Bobby Chin's and had an early dinner before hopping the plane to Hue.

So, there you are...I think caught up.
