Scotia Safari

I write this days after... I have only just regained my strength after this exhausting part of our adventure. We arrived at Scotia and met our Ranger Edward ("Aid-wud" with the South Africa accent)  He was a fantastic tracker and let us in on his technique which was fascinating! We were welcomed with  dinner of Impala and several side dishes cooked over hot coals in a fireside outdoor dining lodge. He took us on a night game drive. We saw gazelles, 2 male lions and lots of nocturnal animals and even more glowing yellow eyes hiding in the trees!!

We then were 1/2 frozen- it is winter here! We were anxious to get to our bush lodge- when we did find our 2 huts, we found candles and a firebox for heat!! BRRRR!  The blankets were warm! We were awakened about 4am by a roaring lion and then the birds started! Edward picked us up at 7:30 and easily found the giraffe eating their morning meal! What a beautiful sight, so serene! The lions must have been far away! We had 3 safaris today and I will post pics and vids!

End of day we gathered at an indoor lodge and watched Bafana Bafana (S.A.'s team)  vs Uruguay on the big screen by a big fire! It was a long day and bed was a welcome sight!
