After departing our own little private beach, we headed to Naxos on Thursday. We got there pretty early so we could have a full day of exploring the island (all of this was at the suggestion of our skipper - who had done it before and showed us great places). We rented sweet ATVs for the entire day and drove all around the island (we were driving for about 6 hours total). We stopped at natural springs and aqueducts used for irrigation, local beaches to cool off, some time of citron distillery to taste the local fare (they don't export at all - http://www.greektravel.com/greekislands/naxos/citronphotos/index.htm), Mt. Zeus and a random shrine to Zeus perched high up on a peak, and a statue of Dionysus (Greek God of wine). It was a long, fun day driving around seeing the island so we all split up to do our own thing for dinner. We headed out and had our first dinner alone, which was nice, and then met up with the 2nd boat for a pretty decent bar scene near the dock. The whole dock area was right in the main town, so there were tons of shops, bars and cafes open late.
