So.....
We made it back to Kadidiri after travelling to Thailand for our instructor courses, ready to take up work at "Kadidiri Paradise".
We were super excited about starting our first instructor jobs in a beautiful location, however, things were not as they seemed....
The first sign that things were not going to run too smoothly were when we found out that, despite several telephone confirmations and e-mails, our job had been given to a Frenchman! The manager assured us that this would be sorted out and that an arrangement would be made to keep everybody happy. This was supposed to happen at tea-time on the third day, we watched in awe as the manager then hopped on a speed boat and didn't return for two weeks! So we were left to make peace and come to an arrangement with Harold, the French instructor.
As it turns out, he was as 'in the dark' as us and was also waiting for a work visa that, it seemed, would never appear. With immigration making weekly visits we decided it was way too high-risk for us and agreed with Harold that we would stay on for a month and then leave him to take over.
One thing that really worried us was the dive equipment that was, well... rustic to say the least!
We lasted two weeks of being under-fed by the kitchen staff and not being able to flush the toilet as we had no water. Some of the customers received the same treatment, it seems that whilst the cat is away.... Even when the boss was around the customers couldn't get water for their rooms, we ended up acting as go-betweens!!
We met some fantastic people, some of the staff were lovely and we got on famously with Harold, but definately couldn't stay in the end. So we left for the sunny shores of Bali to perhaps find a job! We were sad to leave Kadidiri so soon, but glad that we didn't have to stay in 'Paradise'!
