We spent 5 nights on the mainland at a lovely hotel in Nadi called the Mecure, it was a right bargain we found a deal on the internet and got it really cheap. We felt very posh being in a hotel. So we just chilled out by the pool. We had to sort out the rest of our time here in Fiji. We booked to go onto 2 islands, Malolo and Bounty.

On Malolo island we are staying at Walu Beach Resort, it is really nice, we have a private bure (fiji house), its awesome thatch like roof, but out of coconut leaves. We have tried fresh coconuts, they dont taste anything like we associate coconut to taste at home. We have found out about Fijian culture, we took part in a Cava Ceremony, which is the root of a plant mixed with water, its not alcoholic more like a drug it is suppose to make you numb and sleepy, I felt sleepy but that was it. It didn't taste very nice but the ceremony was a really nice thing to be apart of. We have also had demostrations in weaving and one of the guys working on the resort Sonny, taught me how to make a man's basket. I was very impressed with my first attempt at weaving.

We have played volleyball most afternoons with others on the resort, it usuallt turns into Fiji Vs the Rest of the World, as all the workers are on one team against the guests. We have also been snorkelling and kayaking and generally taking part in the acitivities which has kept Alex entertained so I could read my book!

We travel to Bounty Island tomorrow, so Fiji to be continued...

We left Walu Beach Resort feeling abit sad, we have had such a good time on Malolo island. The last night we stayed here the staff did a performance of Fijian Dancing. We arrived at Bounty island at about 6pm. Our first impressions were not as good as what Walu Beach was. The bure we were staying in was not nearly as nice and we wondered if we had made a mistake with leaving the other island. Anyway the next day Bonty island did redeem itself. The snorkelling here is amazing. The coral is beautiful and we saw so many fish, Alex saw 2 sharks as usual I wasn't being very observant so didn't see any!! Bounty Island is also a very small island so we kayaked around the island in less than half an hour. In the end we wnjoyed our time on this island also. The food was really nice, snorkelling amazing and there were some really cool people staying here so it made it fun. On our last full day on the island the sun was shining, we have had abit of a mixed bag in the weather, so we took ful advantage and sunbathed all day, it will be the last time for a long time.
