On the 29th we got up about half 7 in order to have some breakfast before the walk at 8.45am, we were ready to go put the key in the engine and nothing!!! Couldn't believe it, not even an attempt to start. So the rest of the day was spent without a glacier walk, waiting for a mechanic for the grand total of about 7 hours!! This is what happens when a country has such a small population!!! Being from the busy UK we were not impressed and I certainly don't expect to wait a whole day to get a car looked at! In the afternoon once the car had been checked by the mechanic we drove to Fox Glacier and walked up to the glacier. Its really cool to see, but I certainly didn't expect it to be surrounded by rocks and mud. I felt like I was walking on the moon to reach the glacier.
The next day we did finally get to do the glaicer walk and it was really good!!! We had to squeeze through a tiny cravass and climb up and down the ice. It was definately worth the wait. The only down side was that yesterday the weather was dry, but the day we did the walk it was chucking down with rain so it was a little cold and wet and we couldnt get as many pictures!! The glacier walk was last real thing we did in the south island, due to delays with the Milford Road and the car we couldn't get to the Abel Tasmin National Park so we spent the afternoon of the 30th and the 31st just driving north towards Picton stopping at a few little towns on the way. We got the ferry to the North Island on the 1st, ready for the next NZ adventure.

So you walk in the mountains and then jump out of a plane, better than landing in it. Photo on your email were very good like the face pulling before your both jumped. The blogs are really uplifting and cant wait to hearing it from you both. Enjoy the rest of your trip and check your emails as I am talking to nat re contacts in the islands. Dad Boyler
