We then left Queenstown and headed south to Te Anau, we stayed here because I really wanted to do a cruise on the Milford Sound , it looked really beautiful in all the books. However the road has been shut due to bad weather causing several landslide, so we came as far as we could and waited for the road to open the next day. We had a cruise booked for Saturday morning so on Friday we just wasted the day away, it wasn't very good weather, we went for a couple of walks along the milford road there are lots of rivers to see. All the natural things like rivers are on steriods here, I have never seen such a fercious river!!!

On the Saturday we drove to Milford Sound, We had stayed at a DOC site about 40km south. It was still pretty dark and the clouds were low when we were driving, I literally did feel like we were in the middle of a Lord of the Rings film! The cruise was awesome, the scenery was spectacular!!! There was waterfalls everywhere, mountains, wildlife! New Zealand has such dramatic scenery and everywhere you look you want to take picutres! You could literally stop on the side of the road constantly. Check out the pictures of the cruise, it was pretty cold which is why I am wrapped up in a million layers! After the cruise we drove to Wanaka it took about 5 hours all together. The Milford Road was really cool on the way back because the sun haad obviously rose and we could appreciate the scenery. We had to drive through a tunnel, which I swear to god did not look finished and it felt like you were going into a mining shaft not a commerical road tunnel. By the time we got to Wanaka it was teatime, I had to do some washing and ALex cooked the tea, we are staying at a nice little campsite beside the lake.
