We left Byron Bay and headed to Tweeds Head, about 40km north of Byron Bay and the most northern town on the New South Wales coast. It was raining when we arrived, so we decided to have a look in the shopping mall. We decided to treat ourselves to the cinema, it was Cheap Tuesday (Tuesday is the day in Australia where everything is cheap, money off cinema, takeaway, fuel everything). We saw Sherlock Holmes, it was so exciting to go to the cinema its something we do alot at home and have not had the money to do it out here. When we came out of the cinema it was sunny so we headed towards the beach. We officially crossed over the state boarder and entered Queensland. Its very strange as the state boarder runs through Tweeds Head and Coolangatta, in NSW it is an hour ahead of QLD as NSW has daylight savings in the summer, so you cross the street  and have to put your watch back-odd. We went to Snapper Rocks at Rainbow Bay, we have never seen so many surfers in one bit of water. There is a point break off the rocks so the waves are quite big, its pretty famous as they hold the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro tournament there. There was probably 200 surfers in this point break and more kept coming they were just running down the beach. We sat and watched them for about an hour. We then headed to Mel and Lee's place, Lee is ALex's best friend Brett's brother and they kindly allowed us to camp on there drive for a few days to save some money. Mel cooked us Lasgnage for tea.

On our second day on the Gold Coast we went to the waterpark! The Gold Coast is famous for its water and themeparks and we had to go and try at least one. We went to Wet'n'wild, it was so much fun. ALex and I ran around like children for most of the day, we can't act cool. There were loads of good waterslides, my favourite were the ones were you get to go down together on the inflatibles, one was like a half-pipe, it was really good.

The next day, Mel let us in to a little local only secret and gave us directions to a cheap surfing outlet that isn't advertised. I nearly had a stroke the amount of good stuff that was there. So much stuff was $10 each, I got a dress, 2 tops, jumper and jumperdress (will be good for home) all for $10 each, a purse for $15 and tracksuit bottoms for $30. Alex got a new rucksack for $30, a jacket for $10 and a pair of shorts for $10. It was amazing!!!! We probably spent too much money and I have no idea how I'm going to fit it all back in my bag, but I couldn't leave it!!! SHOPAHOLIC! We then went onto Surfers Paradise and spent the afternoon there.

The next day we decided to go to Brisbane for the day. It was gorgeous sunshine and we kind of wanted to just spend the day at the beach, but we have been to all the other major cities in Australia so thought we better go to Brisbane. Its a nice city actually we had a good day walking around, spent most of the day around Southbank, they have a really nice lagoon there. Think of Tinside then make it much prettier and free!!! We then walked through the botancial gardens back towards the train station. Mel and Lee met us off the train and we headed to the beach. We tried our hand at a bit of surfing. Mel took me out and gave me some pointers, she is heavily pregnant so couldn't get on the board but she pushed me onto a couple of waves and I managed to stand up which I was quite pleased with as it was my first go.

On our last full day on the Gold Coast we spent the day with Mel and Lee. We headed down to a creek, the boys did abit of fishing and we took a picnic. Lee caught 3 and Alex caught nothing, not sure his Grandpa would be too impressed! It was a very hot day, so we decided to head back to Mel and Lee's place after lunch and jump in the pool and have a lazy afternoon in the garden. Alex and I cooked Mel and Lee dinner to say thankyou for having us.
