Helsinki
Arrived in Helsinki early, lost another hour last night, and we decided to get off the ship on our own. Instead of a bus we took the shuttle into town and then walked around for a while finding a few sights.
There's a nice market but all a bit pricey. The town is very comfortable and nice to walk around with plenty of ships in port, Azamara, Aida, NCL, and 3 or 4 ferries. It seems the Stockholm/Tallin/Helsinki/St Petersburg is a popular ferry route.
We found some churches and watched a parade then walked a little more and back to the shuttle ship via an ice cream.
After a few hours in the spa we got ready for dinner which was the very nice Murano specialty restaurant, French style but an Italian theme apparently. High class food and good service but a cover charge of $80 plus the wine of course.
After dinner we saw the tail end of the show which was a Celtic flautist, the comedian as a warm up (they are engaged) and Peng. We didn’t fancy the football so caught a half hour of the glass show and then tried out the 70s party – which we didn’t really take to. White nights are a bit odd, broad daylight at 10pm, feels odd to be all dressed up in the daylight. The sun finally went down reluctantly about 11.
We lose another hour tonight so back to the room and bed. Ordered breakfast room service for tomorrow as up early.
