Day 8
Thursday 17th November 2011
Bonaire

We sailed overnight and arrived in Bonaire at 8, morning stretch again - finally my bum cheeks are not on fire and the stretch is paying off a bit.

After morning tai chi we headed for breakfast then back to the room before getting off the boat. Then it started to rain so by the time the rain was done it was about midday and hot. We asked at the tourist place for a simple snorkel site and walked about 30 mins up a nice seaside promenade to the Eden beach resort which sadly was man made as there is little sand on Bonaire it seems. Snorkelling was good but not brilliant for Tina as there was a drop off from about 2 feet to 8 feet, just too much to touch the bottom but she went in for a while, there was plenty of life though with small shoals, parrotfish, squirrelfish, groupers and even a flattie. We met some fellow passengers from the stretch class and lent them my snorkel as they had none. In about 2 minutes I had a life story so now know he is Dutch, left in 1968 after his dad bought him a car and a credit card, lives in Switzerland, sold encyclopaedias door to door in the uk, was married with kids, worked in london in simpsons of piccadilly, now divorced amicably as she couldn't live the way his was, now on holiday with his girlfriend but they don't live together and she is from Croatia. He found out we live near London....

After a nice lunch out and more rays, both burning today, we walked back to the ship, quick shower, cuppa then off to tai chi and the sail away, back via the lido for some cookies and more tea then watched the boat sail away from Bonaire from the balcony whilst the guests next door were debating the ships speed. We of course discussed much weightier issues in unobtrusive tones such as the origin of the universe, the impossibility of life just happening by chance, and whether the cookies were in fact white chocolate as stated or had nuts in.

Now off to dinner via Danielle the travel guide to check out  arubas snorkelling options and the karaoke.....

Danielle was very nice and also helpful, so we chatted a bit, got a seasickness remedy(granny smiths and coke) and learned that Danielle would rather have a mac than a man, she's clearly a real apple fan ;) we found out that baby beach sounds like a good place to snorkel.

After another cuppa we went back to the room and got ready for dinner, decided on the buffet again. After the buffet we went to the karaoke superstar night and heard the first round of five peeps. We walked the deck about 5 times for a bit of exercise, 3 laps is a mile, and that was that.
