Day 5
Monday 14th November 2011
Grand Turk to Dominican Republic

Woke up at the crack of dawn and headed for the stretching class which was a bit of a shock to the system. Haven't stretched seriously for a good few years so am creaking, plenty of yoga looking bods about much better then me so need some practice for sure. Stayed for the body conditioning which was entertaining. The instructor said pick weights that you can do 8 reps with easily, but neglected to mention it was 8 reps about 40 times so my weight choice was a huge mistake. Still, didn't pass out so that was a bonus. Got a cuppa on the way back for Tina and we got up for breakfast, unwashed.... Woo how risky!

We arrived in Dominican as we finished so headed on deck for some pics. We are anchored a way off so not sure if Tina fancies the tender. We're letting breakfast settle then checking it out....

The tender looked a bit rough, but it's the lifeboat so good practice. Inside it's hot and a bit unpleasant but after about ten mins we headed off. Not the smoothest ride but not too long. Sweltering though. We took the pretty walk towards town but there were a huge number of people selling rides and souvenirs so we practised no thanks quite a lot. Everyone was quite pleasant though, not too much hassle but man it was hot. We walked thugh a street market to the town but it's all souvenir shops, not an Internet cafe in sight! We headed back after a while and halfway back we felt a few light spots of rain then two minutes later fat rain, loads of fat rain, which was actually quite refreshing. The locals thought we were mad but we carried on regardless, lost a few dollars to the kids and arrived at the tender looking like drowned rats! Tina kindly pointed out she could see my scalp now my hair was thinning and I would put suncream on it, great, yet another reminder of middle age!

We had a nice sail away then decided to watch a film and in the cinema area saw water for
elephants which was good but we got to dinner late as it was closing so got the dregs of the buffet. We swapped out our film for a new one but fell asleep watching it. Still lightweights....
