Where I stayed
Kirkeporten Camping
Drove through the Nordkapp tunnel = 6,8 km long and 212 meters BELOW sea level (I tried not to think about all that water above us). Stopped in Honningsvag for info, groceries and the northernmost Arctic Bar. Not a real igloo like I thought it would be, but inside a souvenir shop. Freezing cold and we each had a non-alcoholic drink and non-alcoholic ice shot (they didn't serve alcohol...not a real bar). We did learn to say 'skol' (cheers) for the times when we do have adult libations =) And we threw our ice shot glasses into the sea for good luck!
Arrived at the worlds northernmost campsite (71° 6' 50") in Skarsvag and rented a larger cabin...I don't see how we could have rented anything smaller than the cabin in Hammerfest! This time it was a large cabin divided into 5 rooms with 2 bathrooms in the building.
Hiked to a cool arch shaped rock formation (Kirkeporten) and around the peninsula. Got back at almost 3am and it was still light behind the clouds! We saw reindeer grazing near the lake and around the cabins. Much less mangy from a distance =)
