i am not off to a very good start as far as timely blogging...just know Giuseppe and i are having TONS of fun !!!  i arrived on thursday morning after several last minute flight changes due to bad weather on the east coast.  luckily, i made it here on time and it was nothing short of a miracle that my bag followed me through all the changes !!!

in general, the weather here is about the same as STL - warm on a sunny day and cool when the sun goes down.

thursday the weather was bad (cold & rainy) and i was a bit jet lagged, so we spend most of the day indoors.

friday was a beautiful sunny day. we went into Torino central.  we walked through the city center and along the river Po.  i think Torino was the first capital of unified Italy and there are several castles, museums and of course, churches. just an overview of the city since we will return.  alas, we did not take a camera, so no photos =(

saturday, we planned to drive up into the mountains, but the weather turned bad.  as we got closer, it started raining with high winds.  so we turned around and went to Sacra di San Michele - an old church on top of a hill with amazing views!

it was nearly dark so we went to get hot chocolate.  but, this is nothing like american hot chocolate.  it was so thick you had to eat it with a spoon!  delicious and probably LOADED with calories. the menu had about 10 pages of different hot and cold chocolate drinks (using that term loosely)!  torino is famous for chocolate...dangerous for us ladies =)

back to the apartment and i could smell food as we walked down the hall.  i started thinking 'WOW! that smells really good - i am sorta hungry'...opened the door...SURPRISE !!!!!  12 of his friends were here with dinner and drinks ready!!!!!  we ate salami, prosceutto, insalada, riso, arrosta (pork roast), potato and finished with tiramasu and salami di chocolate (like fudge with nuts rolled into a salami shape). we played a card game called solo (a lot like uno) and the party lasted late into the night...

today, cleaned up the apartment, did some laundry and will pack later tonight.  because tomorrow...Giuseppe is taking me to...VENICE for my birthday !!!!!  i have never spent a birthday outside the US nor ever been to Venice.  two nights there and then onto the lake region for another few days.

he goes back to work next monday, so i will have to find a way to fill my time - HA!  i am sure i will be busy studying italian, walking around and trying to remember to take the damn camera with me.

sorry there are no pics...you will just have to trust me when i say it is 'fantastico' !!!!

Oh girl , you know how to make an old lady jealous! So glad you are having fun and enjoying yourself. Don't worry about the calories, there are lots of things you can do to work off the calories (if you catch my drift). Have fun and lots of romance, make it a gift to yourself. Keep us posted.
