Saturday, January 7: Today we are going to meet more of Kaptain and LeeDelle's friends. Can't wait, we have heard so much about this group that we feel we know them, now we can put a face on all the "stories". The plan is to go wine tasting in Temecula: Kaptain Larry, LeeDelle (it’s her 60th birthday) Jan, Dave, Locksmith-Larry, Laurie, Toni, (her husband Steven was sick and couldn't make it) and Larry and I.
LeeDelle being the great planner she is had a van pick us up at their hotel and then go to the first tasting, which was the Monte De Oro Winery. This one has a glass floor that looks down into the cellar where they have private wine tastings and barrels of wine . It is amazing what people will do when there is a glass floor to stand on. The view from this winery is awesome.
The next winery was Bella Vista Winery, the oldest Winery in Temecula. They have a beautiful bar that they use to serve the wine tasting. Kaptain Larry had picked up everything needed for a wonderful picnic lunch, as they have a cabana overlooking the valley. While we tasted wine our driver setup our lunch.
Our next stop was Mount Palomar. The driver gave us a couple of free deserts to add to our celebration. More wine tasting, lot’s more laughter and definitely more fun.
Europa Winery was our last stop. This was a great choice for the last winery as it is a quaint, personal winery, reminds you of Italy. We did our wine tasting outside which was perfect for us as it was a "most" beautiful day. We had a wonderful afternoon at a beautiful little winery.
After Europa, we went back to the hotel, where Larry and LeeDelle stayed and walked across the street to an Italian restaurant which does not believe in anyone going away hungry.
Then it was back up to the Kaspers room for some “Birthday” fun. Kaptain Larry got LeeDelle
certificate for a winemaking lesson at a place in Huntington Beach. We can’t wait to try her wine. It was a very nice evening, including a delicious cake that Laurie brought.
Sunday, January 8: We met up with Kaptain Larry, LeeDelle, Jan and Dave at the Kaspers RV in Menifee. We all spent a relaxing, sunny day watching football outside, and there may have been some more wine tasting.
It was a great weekend spent wine tasting and making new friends, and celebrating LeeDelle’s 60th BIRTHDAY. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and will remember it for a long time.
