Where I stayed
Apple Island Resort
September14th we headed to Vermont. We are on the hunt for color! We are starting to see a little change - I call it teaser color. Had a great trip and we even had to cross over Lake Champlain by ferry to get to South Hero.
Kaptain and LeeDelle got on the first ferry, but there was another one coming in as they went out. It warmed up just enough that we could go outside while we crossed the lake. They really like to pack the ferry, we are so close to Rick's rig that if he rolls back at all we will hit him.
September 15th we took off to Waterbury. Lots to see, but important things first. That would be Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory. There we learned how they first started their ice cream business, and of course there are the free samples - yummy!
Next was to Cabot Cheese, and again free samples! Lots of different cheese. Next it was the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, and, of course, Lake Champlain Chocolate. If you haven't figured it out, this trip is a lot about eating! The plan was to get back in time for a stop at the Vermont Brownie Company, but they closed at 2pm, and we missed it. But, we did get to see our first covered bridge which was really cool!
