I spent most of today running errands in preparation for leaving.  In the morning, I went to RT Mart and bought a new suitcase.  I came to China with a large duffel bag and I don't know what I was thinking because the bag was much too big and heavy for me to carry.

For 300 kuai, I bought a hard-side suitcase that rolls sideways.  What a buy.  I'm sure it will be broken by the time it makes its way to the US (because it cost the equivalent of about $45), but as long as my stuff doesn't fall out, I'll be happy.  As much as I've made fun of the newfangled, trendy suitcases that roll sideways, the one I bought really is easy to move around.

After RT Mart, I took a taxi to the Zhenjiang noodle place near campus and had the famous noodles one last time.  Zhenjiang noodles are special because they're crinkle-cut, similar to the french fries and carrots of the same name.  They're in a pork broth with spice, tofu, and egg.

After lunch, Sam and I went to the Xijin district to do the last of our souvenir shopping.  Actually, Sam hasn't done any souvenir shopping in China, but he did buy something nice for his parents today.  As soon as we got to the district, and before we stepped foot in the first store, Sam complained that he was already exhausted.  He's very dry, but very, very funny.

We both rested in the late afternoon then went to Nick and Arwen's for cocktails.  They made a delicious batch of Gin and Tonics.  We chatted about their trip to Nanjing and our trip West, then Sam and I left for dinner.  We ate barbecue at the front gate for the last time.  The food was particularly good tonight and we both went back for seconds. Our favorite foods in China haven't gotten old after nearly a year of eating them on a weekly basis.  We toasted to our gluttony.
