I didn't do much today but somehow still kept busy.  When my mom was here, she wondered what I usually do on days when I don't teach.  I told her that contrary to her worries, I never sit in my room and stare at the walls.  I very rarely feel bored, and if I feel lonely, I bug Tiffany or Sam.  Tiffany lovingly refers to this as "harassing," and she often harasses me too.

I attempted to get a taxi to Auchan today from our back gate.  There are a few more students here now and classes resume a week from today, so I figured the street at the back gate might have been a little busier.  But unfortunately, there were no taxis there, so I decided to walk toward the main street at the front of campus.  Soon after I began walking, a taxi drove up, and I doubled up with a woman who was going in the opposite direction, but not very far.  Doubling up is common in China, and I'm glad for it.

I shopped at Auchan, came back, had a cup of tea, finished Brave New World, then cooked dinner.  I made salad and pesto pasta for Sam and me.  The pasta came out a little dry because I didn't add extra oil, but other than that, the dinner was good.  Sam and I leave for our two-day getaway tomorrow morning, and I'm not sure I'll write tomorrow night.
