The only significant thing I did today was finish my application, write my essay, and submit both to my chosen midwifery school in Maine.  The essay was easy to write.  The school provides guidelines, allows applicants to diverge if they wish, and requires no set number of words or pages.  My essay ended up being seven pages, and I think I thoroughly answered all the questions from the guidelines.  I started at about 9:30 and finished at about 1:30.

I would say that I've never written that much in that short a time, but it wouldn't be true.  I admit to procrastinating when it came to paper writing in college and grad school, and there were many days during which I wrote seven or more pages in one day.  It's difficult, but I think it makes for a more cohesive final paper.  And finishing feels so good.

There were also times when I started writing early and turned in papers early.  I'm not a total slacker...unless Guitar Hero is within reach.  That's another story.

Something else I had to do today for my application was to fill out yet another FAFSA.  I've done this every year for the past six years now.  One would think the people in charge would require a new FAFSA only if the student's or the student's parents' financial situation changed significantly.  But alas, that's not the case.

Seriously, imagine if your job was to process FAFSA's.  I think I'd prefer a cup of hemlock.
