former East). After spending our first afternoon with a walking tour around the city's main points, we had extra time to explore. We ate lunch both days in the Viktualienmarkt, which was amazing. Just sitting down for a beer at a picnic table, we met lots of enthusiastic Germans who were eager to recommend things to do. We also, of course, had a beer at the Hofbrauhaus, the largest beer hall in the city and one of the most famous in the world. In addition, we spent an afternoon sunbathing in the Englischer Garden, which was a nice and welcome relaxation on a hot summer day.
We saw the outside of the Residenz and Allianz Arena. We went in St. Peter's Church. We absolutely loved spending time in Marienplatz, the city center with its beautiful Town Hall and other buildings. Another thing we loved and that I'd highly recommend is to visit is the Olympiapark where the 1972 summer Olympics were held. The architecture was amazing and unique. It impressed us and exceeded our expectations.
Overall, we LOVED Munich and would recommend it to everyone!!!
