What I did
Moon Pie Festival

Flag of United States  , Tennessee
Saturday, June 16, 2012

We left out early for the Moon Pie Festival
in Bell Buckle, TN.  Yes, In it's humble
beginnings you could get a Moon Pie and
a RC Cola, both for 10 cents but now days
it will cost you about two bucks and fifty
cents!  I did buy an RC Cola for $1.50 cents.
Hubby had bought a box of Moon Pies early
in the week (couldn't wait, I suppose) so we
did not purchase a Moon Pie at the festival.

The Moon Pie had been around 17 years by
the time R.C. Cola was introduced in 1934.
The two combined forces in the 1950's,
hence the slogan "an R.C. Cola and a Moon
Pie." No one has ever said if this was a
planner marketing strategy; the combining of
the two, or if it was just an accident.  Whatever
the reason, it became an instant success
The combo included a 16 ounce R.C. Cola,
and a Moon Pie that weighed almost a half
pound. The duo was originally created as
a snack for local Miners.

Today, we can find them in 6 flavors;
Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Banana,
Lemon, Orange and Peanut Butter.

We watched runners come in. We watched
the Parade.  We watched dancers dance and
we "people" watched.  I had a delicious
smoked turkey leg.  Hubby had a steak and
cheese sandwich.  We sat on bales of hay...
eating both while we watched the dancers
perform.  It was shaded and there was a
cool breeze a blow'n.  We had homemade
ice cream cones.  We, also, went into one
of the Antique shops. We bought our little
sweetheart a necklace with her name; a
heart and her birthstone on it.  We bought
her a Princess Terra, too.   All in all,  what
a great time we had!  Thanks Father and the
city of Bell Buckle for inviting us to come
and enjoy the festivities! The Lord willing we
will go, again, next year.
