THE 14TH ANNUAL ECHOTA CHEROKEE INDIAN
FESTIVAL... SEPTEMBER 24, 2011.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT THE ECHOTA SOAR
WITH... ALL I CAN SAY IS WHEN YOU WALK
ONTO THESE GROUNDS, YOU HAVE A SENSE
OF WALKING AMONG BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE OF
CHARACTER.  YES, ONE SENSES PRIDE BUT
IT IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE PRIDE IN WHO
THEY ARE

I AM ECHOTA; 13% CHEROKEE... NATIVE AMERICAN
I DO NOT KNOW MANY PEOPLE OF THE FESTIVAL;
BUT THE ONES I AM GETTING TO KNOW, I SENSE,
ARE PROUD OF AND LOVE BEING WHO THEY ARE
...  ECHOTA.  THEY NOT ONLY TALK THE TALK BUT
WALK THE WALK OF NOBILITY.  HIGH CHARACTER.
IS OF IMPORTANCE TO THEM.   IT MAKES ME PROUD
TO BE A PART.

IT WAS A CRISP MORNING WITH FIRES GOING.  THE
OUTCOME WAS A WARM BEAUTIFUL DAY.  WE
BROUGHT OUR SON AND OUR LITTLE SWEETHEART
WITH US.  OUR SON'S WIFE IS WORKING ON HER
ED.S, SO, SHE COULD NOT BE WITH US.  I WATCHED
MY SON FROM A SHORT DISTANCE, AWAY...   I
WONDERED IF HE SENSED HIS HERITAGE.

I WAS TAKING PICTURES AND MY LITTLE SWEETHEART
CAME RUNNING UP TO ME, SHOWING ME THE NECKLACE
SHE HAD MADE.  ALSO, SHE SHOWED ME A BIG
FEATHER.  I FOUND OUT LATER SHE WAS IMITATING THE
YOUNG GIRL DANCERS AND AN ON LOOKER GAVE THIS
FEATHER TO HER..

THE FIRST THING SHE WANTED TO DO WHEN WE
ARRIVED AT THE FESTIVAL WAS TO GO INTO THE
ONE OF THE TEPEES.  YES, OF COURSE, WE DID.

ONE THING I DID MISS AT THE FESTIVAL THIS YEAR
WAS THE WONDERFUL SMOKED TURKEY LEG AND
THE ROASTED CORN ON THE COB.   I DON'T KNOW
THIS, BUT THEY MAY HAVE HAD THESE ON SUNDAY.

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL
FESTIVAL AND TO MY GREAT-GRAND-MOTHER FOR
MY HERITAGE. MOST OF ALL I THANK MY HEAVENLY
FATHER.
