WE COULD NOT WAIT TILL NIGHT TIME TO DRIVE
INTO GATLINBURG AND DRIVE UP THE STRIP.
THIS HAS NEVER CHANGED FOR ME.   EACH
TIME IT IS EXCITING JUST TO BE THERE; TO DRIVE
IT.  THERE ARE MORE LIGHTS ADDED THIS YEAR.
WE DID NOT GET SOME FUDGE ON THIS STRIP
LIKE WE NORMALLY DO.  WE DID GET SOME
IN PIGEON FORGE THE NIGHT BEFORE WE
LEFT. REALLY, IT WAS JUST TO COLD TO PAY
FOR PARKING AND THEN WALK ONLY A BLOCK
TO BUY IT.  I WOULD, PROBABLY, FEEL LIKE I WAS
FREEZING.   THE LAST TIME WE WERE HERE
THE TEMPERATURE STAYED AROUND 36 TO
45 DEGRESS'. THIS TIME...  20 TO 34 DEGREES.
ANYWAY, WE ARE NOT AS DUMB OR COURAGEOUS
AS WE USED TO BE.HUBBY STOPPED ALONG THE
RIVER SO I COULD GET OUT TO WATCH IT.  THE
WATER WAS MOVING SO RAPIDLY... MOVING SO
MERRILY ON IT'S WAY TO WHERE EVER IT DOES
GO.  THERE IS A GOOD, SHORT, VIDEO CLIP OF IT.
I DO LOVE THE MEMORY OF IT ALL.  ACTUALLY,
THERE WAS NOT MANY PEOPLE WALKING THE
STRIP. WE DID NOT HEAR OR SEE ANY CHRISTMAS
CAROLERS.  WHEN GOING INTO THE SHOPS AND
EATING AT THE RESTAURANTS WE DID HEAR
CHRISTMAS MUSIC. WE DID EAT AT THE WOOD
GRILL WHICH HAS LIVE ENTERTAINMENT.  THE
MAN WE LISTENED TO; SURE COULD PLAY AND
SING. HE SOUNDED A LOT LIKE ELVIS AND KENNY
RODGERS, COMBINED, TO ME.   THE SECOND NITE,
WE DECIDED TO TAKE THE TROLLEY TOUR IN
GATLINBURG TO SEE THE LIGHTS.  THE GUIDE TOLD
US SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT GATLINBURG.
ALSO, HE TOLD US SOME STUPID SANTA JOKES.
HE DID TELL US THAT THE LIGHTS DO STAY UP UNTIL
FEBRUARY (EXCEPT THE CHRISTMAS ONES).  THEY
PUT UP HEARTS, ETC. FOR VALENTINES. I KNOW I DO
NOT HAVE THESE FACTS CORRECT BUT PRETTY
CLOSE.   HE SAID THAT EACH NEW LIGHT BLUE;
LIGHTED TREES, ALONG THE STREETS OF
GATLINBURG, COST $7,100 AND THE REPLACEMENT
BULBS FOR THEM ARE (CLOSE) $.79 A PIECE. WOW!
WE WENT INTO THE AQUARIUM TO TRY AND FIND A
SEAHORSE FOR OUR GRAND-DAUGHTER. WE FOUND
A GREEN ONE WITH PINK IN IT (PINK IS HER FAVORITE
COLOR). WE HAD SO MUCH FUN.THIS TRIP BECAUSE
WE WENT AT OUR OWN PACE. DID ALL THE THINGS
WE WANTED TO DO;  WHEN WE WANTED TO DO
THEM. NO MANDATES. WE HAVE WORKED HARD
THIS YEAR AND IT SEEMED NON STOP.  SO IT WAS
SO REFRESHING TO NOT THINK ABOUT WHAT WE
WOULD HAVE NEEDED TO GET DONE IF WE HAD
BEEN BACK AT HOME.  WE DO LIVE IN A WONDERFUL
COUNTRY!  THANK YOU FATHER FOR AMERICA.  WE
HIT THE STRIP THREE TIMES. I KIND OF MISSED
DOLLY WOOD JUST A LITTLE BUT IT WOULD HAVE
BEEN  WAY TOO COLD. I DID HEAR THE DOLLY WOOD
TRAIN WHISTLE TWICE WHEN WE WERE CLOSE BY;
DURING THE DAYTIME.  THEY DO NOT RUN THE RIDES
UNDER 32 DEGREES. I DID GET TO SEE CHRISTMAS
LIGHTS...  (THOUSANDS OF THEM) WHICH, ALWAYS,
REMINDS ME OF "THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD... THE
REASON FOR THE SEASON. WE NEED TO HAVE OUR
LIGHTS SO SHINE ON GOD'S BIG EARTHLY BIRTHDAY
CAKE... SHINNING SO BRIGHTLY TO AND FOR HIM,
HE IS WORTH IT.   I SAY, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS!."
