........................We came to the town and charted a boat to take us onto Lake Titicaca. The name might not translate well into any language, but it is a beautiful lake, quite, blue and clear as crystal, almost like a mirror.
......................At first we went to Suriqui Island which has catacombs dating back many years. It is a nice small island, a bit barren, which a farming culture exists on. We were there for maybe two hours, got a tour and left.
The next island was Kalahuta, where they make straw boats which can cross oceans. We walked around, found out how they make the boats and how they make other aritfiacts. I bought a small straw boat, which I carried with me in a brown cardboard box, in a plastic bag. It was certainly a pain to carry, but now I have a great, authentic memory sitting right on my shelf.
Overall:
Certainly worth the trip
