We stopped at Puerto Natales basically to put our backpacks down, get some food and go trekking in Torres del Paine.
We stayed at a very hospitable casa, Case de Familia, but the lady was very nice, and the food was good. They also agree to store our "stuff" we didn't need for the trek until we got back.
A humongous help.
To me the town will always be remembered as the place where I learned the Spanish names of basic ingredients (arroz) through some insensitive gestures (pointing to the mouth and slanting the eyes).
Overall:
Great town
Nice people
Good food
