Punta Arenas is the southernmost city on earth, which just by having that title makes you want to visit it. Sitting on the straits of Magellan it is very colorful and quiet, but most of all a fascinating place which fell from glory once the Panama canal was opened (you can easily detect this from the architecture around town).

Since we were at a rush to see many places before winter set in, I did not follow my own procedures to call my parents in order to let them know in what country I am since Buenos Aires.

Unfortunately, when going through Torres del Paine, the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires was bombed. My poor parents, who haven't heard from me for days afterwards didn't know what to think. Of course when I heard the news, I rushed over to the first phone to give them a call.
