On a sunny Friday afternoon we decided to take the kids apple picking, a treat for them and wouldn't cost us as much as taking them elsewhere.  We decided on the close by Giamarese Farm in East Brunswick ( http://www.giamaresefarm.com/)

The farm is easy to get to; at the time they had pumpkin patches and other Halloween related items.  Once we parked our car we walked into the small farm market to pick up a bag (our son grabbed a peach) and walked to the apple orchards.  The orchard is made out of several rows with different types of apples in each row, you can fill out you bag as much as you'd like with a mix of varieties - all for one price (per pound).

The kids had a good time even though there were many bees around.  There was also a hay ride but it wasn't running during our visit.   We walked around some more and bought a fresh pie at the farm market.  The whole afternoon cost us around $40.
