We decided to go to Massachusetts on a whim, we were home one day and realized a long weekend was coming up in several weeks and since we love the New England area we made a decision.  The hotel was a different problem, we could stay outside of Plymouth for a significant chunk of change but then we'll have to drag two kids everywhere - so we opted for convenience over money.

However, we decided to stay only two nights (Saturday & Sunday) which would save us a few bucks.

We got out on the road only an hour or so then we planned, for those of you who have small children you know that is considered "on time".  We wanted to stop every hour and a half or so to let the kids run around, but that didn't work out so well.  Our first planned stop was at the Stratford Point Lighthouse which was closed from some reason (noon on a Saturday) , so we improvised and make our stop at the lock Dunkin' Doughnuts for coffee.

We continued to our second stop, Mystic, CT for lunch and a little browsing - there we got to have New England Clam Chowder in New England (at the S&P Oyster Company, funny enough we sat at the same table we sat last time we went there on our way to Boston).  The kids were acting up a bit so we didn't have dessert and just went on our way straight to Plymouth.

Of course we got lost - our GPS was not updated with the maps, the road was a bit confusing and didn't tell us about the turns fast enough for us to slow down on a busy, unknown and dark road.

But we finally got the Plymouth, or rather we found ourselves in the Plimoth Plantation's parking lot ... but the GPS tells us we are on route 3A.  We knew the hotel was close by - but where?

We called them up and with their help found our way out.  As it turned out rt. 3A passes through the parking lot, so we had to drive to the other side of the parking lot - the dark side - with no lights - and a steep hill which takes you back on Rt. 3A - no street lights provided.

In short time we were at the hotel, the Pilgrim Sands Motel, a beautiful hotel with an indoor pool, outdoor pool and an ocean view you can't beat.  We took the kids swiming, bath and to sleep.
