I'm sitting on the floor of the SeaTac terminal A9 waiting for my 12:00pm flight to Chicago O'Hare. My back is to the window and I'm charging my cute white netbook sacrificing the view of the tarmac behind me in order to utilize one of the very, very few outlets. But hey, there's free WiFi.
I checked in through security alright. Whipping out all of the things. Liquids in their ziploc prison, computer out of its happy, black neoprene sheath, camera out of is protective case (I forgot batteries... grand), and my pink, double strapped Chacos came off. They did have to adjust my computer because it was in the same white box as my shoes.
I'm even remaining calm after I realize that the plane tickets I have only get me to Amman. Oh well. I have 15 hours there in order to figure out where to claim that.
But for now, I want to address a few concerns people have:
I'll be 100% safe. I've done my research and I've decided to leave my bright green mini and my American flag at home. I've brought modest clothing, scarves to cover my hair if necessary, I'm staying in a dorm with a guard posted 24/7 I won't talk to strangers go in the north of Yemen where there is rebel fighting, and I'll do my level best to stay out of trouble.
I think that the biggest question is why?
I think that Yemen is a country with a most glorious history. I mean, the Queen of Sheba was from Yemen. It's got more history than the U.S. can dream about. I'll be studying Arabic and doing research for a Evergreen class.
I think this is all I have time for now but I thought I should get a post in and let everyone know it's blog season again.
Cheers,
Hannah

Do you really have a bright green mini? I don't recall ever seeing such a thing in your wardrobe.
No. I'd see that as a fashion don't.
I really think you should consider the mini. But probably not in Yemen.
