Fresh from the wilds we arrive at the striking Capitol building in Baton Rouge. A monster piece of art deco the building rises above the city amidst lush parks near the Governer's Mansion. Unfortunately due to all the storms the previous evening, and the threat of worse to come the building was locked and we were not able to go inside. And of course it starts to rain again. So back in the car, but we felt unsatisfied with this and checked with Penelope to see what else was around town.
We head course for the Enchanted Mansion, as Laura suddenly felt the dire call of nature. It is then we learn its a doll museum. Mmm think again. Quick turn into Starbucks for a break, where we chat with the barista about what there is to do in Baton Rouge. Well, it turned out that the mascot of Louisiana State University (LSU) is a tiger, no not just a billboard, a real life tiger in its own little $1.5 million compound. This is worth seeing. So we muddle around with directions, fighting with Penelope, and struggling in general to find just where this tiger is. I mean, how hard is it to hide?
We eventually find it, but Mike, yes Mike the tiger, doesn't want to play today, and would rather nap hidden at the back of his pen. Buuu. Apart from a sight of fur, we saw nothing. And with the two great landmarks of Baton Rouge under our belt we headed for home.
