Sucre felt completely different than the last few cities in Bolivia I have visited. Much cleaner, much nicer buildings, much safer. It is a government town, the official capital of Bolivia, which appears to bring in quite a bit more money. There were much more private vehicles, the shops sold more expensive items, and the people on the whole appeared to dress much more fashionably. It is a great town for strolling, with lots of parks and plazas, some going on for blocks and blocks. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Sucre, and was disappointed it was only for two nights.
My big adventure was to go mountain biking in real mountains, the Andes, at about 12000 feet. We were brought up to several high points, and then our job was to hang on with all of life while we went full speed down rocky rutty roads, try not to fly over the edge of sheer cliffs, then to do it all over again. Lots of fun, but I had to peel my fingers off the handlebars at the bottom of each run.
