Where I stayed
Here, things started coming together. Braden and I met up at Heathrow. Nancy, who had arrived in Manchester somewhat earlier, took the train to York, where we will all get together on Friday.
To while away the hours in this time zone until we can go to sleep and start a new wake/sleep cycle, Braden and I dropped our packs at the Comfort Inn where we had a reservation and went out to explore London. We decided to visit the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square because Braden is interested in art (he's pursuing a career in animation or comics) and because it's free. (I noted in my journal that I spent a fair amount of time with Rembrandt, but I don't have a very clear memory of the gallery.) Afterward, we had a bite of lunch at a nearby Pret-a-Manger (good, healthy sandwiches) in the sunshine, wandered around central London a little more, and then went back to the hotel to move our packs into our room. Later, we went out to dinner at a great little Indian restaurant, Ravi Shankar, which we were told has been a local favorite for decades in the Euston/King's Cross area.
