15/6-17/6

The day we were leaving for cesky Krumlov (CK) the weather seemed to be clearing up, but as the rain started to pelt down half way there we decided we had been wrong. Dave had been to CK on his journey 10 years ago and had loved it, he remembered a tiny little town where no one spoke English and had a handful of tourist shops. Things have changed slightly, and everyman and his dog seems to be here. Despite this, it still has a lovely charm and is a definite must see.

Our camp site was about 3kms away and set next to a little creek. The showers were again awful and you had to pay for them so I only had the one. Needless to say I am hanging out for a nice shower and it will take a lot of convincing to get me out once one shows itself. There was a Kiwi couple in a Talbot van there and a group of Scottish lads, so a lot of people are starting to apper from the wood work. We took it easy that afternoon and got the BBQ out for the first time, it was nice to sit out under the awning and cook a couple of snags.

CK is only a small place and one you can walk around in an afternoon. We were got a cheap pizza for lunch and then wandered. The town is situated on a snaking river and has a castle sat upon a hill so it looks out over the town and valley. One of the best bits was the bear pit, yes that's right, the castle even had a beer pit with real live bears! It was more like a little zoo enclosure so they had plenty of area to wander, and they even had their own waterfall.

We slept in and left CK about lunch time. The drive today was over some lovely mountin ranges into Austria and to the Danube River again. The rain is persisting, but we have been told it will get better soon........
