9/6

The drive today took us through Roznava, towards a national park called Slovensky Raj National park. We took a back road and drove over some very precarious roads with out much fuel left! I am sure it would have been lovely if I wasn't freaking out so much! We were heading to a town called Podelsok where the trail took you up a river to see waterfalls and stunning national park. This would have to be a highlight of the trip so far, and we wouldn't have even known about it if it hadn't been for the camp site lady.

There really wasn't much of a trail, most of the time you had to balance over logs or step over stones so that you wouldn't get wet. If there was no other way, they had made step ladder type things, which consisted of to logs with smaller logs nailed into them. You could see the old ones that had rotted below where you were walking! There is something nice about it being a bit archaic, it is more natural and I suppose you feel as if you are discovering something, rather then just walking a path hundreds of people have already walked.

The best and scariest bit was climbing up ladders that were next to the water falls. Rickety old things that would go up about 5 or 6 meters, there was nothing to stop you if you slipped. We didn't see anyone else there, and after about 2 hrs of following the crystal waters and climbing about 4 water falls, we turned around and headed back.
We had another big drive last night, all the way to Bratislava, which took about 5 hrs n Clive, he doesn't seem to like the big mountain roads all that much.

After finding the campsite and then freaking out that it was closed and we wouldn't have anywhere to stay, the gate opened and we were allowed in and just had to see reception in the morning. the camp site is again basic, but is on a great lake, and the weather is beautiful. If it wasn't next to a highway and below a flight path, I think we would stay a bit longer. Off to Czech Republic tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Jo!
