Dave and I have thought of reaching Estonia as a bit like starting leg two of our journey. We had planed a lot of leg one, we knew where we were going to go and what we were going to see, but at the moment we don't even know what order we are going to do the next lot of countries! It is still quiet cold up here, but in the sun (and out of the wind) it is warm enough to take the jacket off.
Tallinn has one the best old towns I have seen, it is quiet tiny, we walked around and saw all of the sites in about 2 hrs. There isn't as much of a Russian influence here as I thought there would have been, building wise I meant, but it was still great. The wall is really intact and has all the old turrets and wooden tops still there. A lot of the town uses a medieval theme to attract the tourists, using old costumes etc, it is great (I know such a sucker)
The Estonians seem to be lovely people too, and Dave has noticed that there are more blonds here then in Sweden. English is widely spoken so it makes thing easier. We have also nominated Estonia as the WIFI capital of the world, it is everywhere, and it is free! We even got to watch the first half of the state of origin on the laptop.
Today we drove east towards Russia, we are probably only 100kms form the boarder, and it is only 350kms to Saint Petersburg. We came this was to have a look at a few waterfalls and general Estonian life. The first waterfall we have seen was at Jagala, no one else was there and it was quiet nice. Just near by was a lake and about 4 people dressed up in Indian costumes, they had set up a little camp and had a heap of soft drink with them...... We weren't quiet sure what was going on there....
Tonight we are staying at a spa......... Well the camp site is attached to the spa, no one else is here, and no wonder, it is set on the top of a cliff and the wind coming off the ocean is bloody freezing! Heater back on tonight! As another wonderful sin set disappears over the horizon we will leave you till next time.
