We took Clive out for a day trip, only about 1hr away. It is a nice little town set on the Thames river, and the castle is a very dominant feature. We really enjoyed looking around, the state apartments were great, it was quite good being somewhere the royal family actually spends time in. The only really use it when they are entertaining but, it was still good. Dave really liked the weapons displays that they had, but i had seen similar displays at the tower of London. It was all ready cold and miserable day so we didn't do much else there.
We got back to Clive ready to depart for home, key in the ignition, and then ..........
We then did a trip our to Oxford last weekend. Again it was a cold miserable day, but we have to make the most of our time here, so off we went this time with Bel in tow. We decided to do one of those open top bus tours, and for some reason we sat out side. By the time we were finished all of us were frozen! I didn't taken in too much of what the guy was saying, but most of the resent politicians from around the globe seem to have gone to one collage or another here. I did see the collage that Bob Hawk got his world record for sculling a yard glass.
We decided on a little pub out of the way that first opened some time in the 16th century where cock fighting seemed to be the rage (in the 16th century not now). The roast was fantastic and the warm ale fixed me up and by the time we were ready to leave i was feeling much toastier. Oxford is a really pretty place, i wish we had had a little more time to see it better, but such is life
Dave's mate Craig arrived on Friday, and he bought the good weather with him! It has been gorgeous here, blue Sky's, temps of 14, what more can you ask for in the middle of winter. We introduced Craig to London with a few pints, and went to Greenwhich for the day. It was another fab day and we wandered around the Maritime museum and Greenwhich Park and also checked out the meridian line at Greenwich observatory, a great place to go if you want to while away a day.
So that brings you all up to date. Dave Nikki and I are off to the snow on Friday, i get home from night duty at 9 am then have to be on a overnight bus to France at 5pm! Oh well maybe i will sleep well then!
