Well, I completed my long trek back to Florida. I realize I don't cope very well with overnight flights. Well, this isn't really a new revelation, but another confirmation of that fact.

I thought I had it about figured out this time. The sleep/no sleep/can't sleep thing on the return home. But, in case you are wondering, I don't have it figured out. I have, however, been slowly removing the variables regarding overnight flight so that by process of elimination I may yet do this and recover in a time period shorter than 3 days. I have tried the no sleep thing, the cat nap thing, the sleep when I can thing, the make an effort to sleep thing and the take a tylenol PM sleep thing.

Rather obvious, the no sleep thing is miserable. I never actually plan on doing that, but it just turns out that way - much to my dismay. The cat nap thing usually takes place during the night when I just can't keep my eyes open any longer and I doze off for about 20 minutes at a time. The make an effort to sleep always happen when I keep the TV on in an effort to bore me to sleep. What always happens during this effort is a dull, stupid movie keeps my attention, and then when a good one starts I fall right to sleep. I did the PM pill thing this time and I think I actually slept about 4 hours. Well, maybe I am figuring this out.

Someone gave me an actually sleeping pill I am going to use on the trip to Italy in a couple of weeks. I actually had the pill with me on the way back from Hawaii but I didn't know how I would react, so I chickened out. I was sure I might be left on the plane when we landed for the connection in Cincinnati because they couldn't wake me up. Then I would never get home.

So, since a friend is going with me to Europe, I might try it then.

When I got home this time I had a difficult time adjusting back to eastern time. I kept finding myself doing laundry and house cleaning at 1 in the morning! (Which would only have been 7 pm in Hawaii)

Now, I am sure all of you have been reading this with rapt attention and interest. I know, I have had better stories to tell, so I will try to do better the next time. Maybe I can get someone to take a picture of me tyring to sleep. It should be real attractive... NOT!
