A flight to Lukla-
I never really considered a plane a ‘tin can’ or the possibility of crash landing until here. With the in-flight service of cotton wool for our ears and toffees to suck on I forgot about the 3 hour delay that the tiny airport caused and enjoyed soaring over Nepal like an eagle.

Lukla to Packding- full of enthusiasm I practically skipped the three hours in my flip-flops. Enjoyed loosing myself in conversation to other trekkers and excited. It started to get darker, prickly heat scratched at my skin and Marc let my headache give into the offer of a bed for the night; a lovely lodge with two cute kids. I joked that Marc could continue climbing and I’d stay to attend school with the kids. Maybe that’s when I should have realized my heart wasn’t in it.

Packding to Namche Bazaar- Sleeping like a baby I woke with excitement at the task ahead. Walking along and chatting to other trekkers as well as the breathtaking beauty of our surroundings I was happy till after the lunch and the steep climb up began.

Packding-  Journal extract

"I'm 'home' well no where near but I'm tucked into my minus 40 sleeping bag in the lovely, best priced, good food, nice lady and her 'girls' lodge that myself and Marc stayed in. I'm a day away from the airport and if you head back towards Namche for an hour or so (tho don't quote me on times) there's suppose to be a monastery, a nunnery and a bit of wildlife so I think, now that I'm feeling much better I'm going to leave the rucksack here and check that out today. I may as well enjoy the peace and nature for a few more days till the madness of Kathmandu. Plus I have no real sense of day, date or time and I like it...at the moment! Saying that it must be around 7.30/8am as the first of the trekkers wander past clicking their sticks, and school girls with bright red skirts skip along in their pigtails. I can hear the water rushing below and see the sun crawling down the fir tree mountain. It's going to be okay again.I'm smiling!"

Packding- Lukla- A slow and peaceful quiet walk and accompanied a lot of the way b a lovely dog...a bit like my Genie actually but this time I have photographic proof. arriving in Lukla at around 1pm I sat in the airport hoping for a flight worried when I met two couples who'd been waiting for days.

Lukla- I thought I had this guest house to myself but there was a phoo floating in the shared toilet so huge there must have been a beast about. Seriously it was the so big it must have done some damage, not just to the toilet which couldn't be flushed. Needles to say I didn’t hang around and was at the airport before the clicking of tour group sticks arrived. Adopting the techniques of the locals I pushed and argued myself onto the second flight back to Kathmandu and the civilization of a hot shower.
