Countdown is getting close - only 3 more days to departure. While the baggage isn't an issue on our international flights, we are planning to save some driving time by flying within Australia and New Zealand and the baggage restrictions are interesting... So have been working on figuring out what to bring. Would be simple (and a lot less heavy) if we were just doing Australia since it would mostly be warm weather clothes. But New Zealand's winter is bit colder/harsher since they have mountains. Add into that we are hoping to get up into the mountains and do some hiking... and now we're talking packing hiking boots, back packs, snow clothes and maybe even our snow shoes. We've been very surprised to learn that snow shoeing is pretty much unknown in NZ so doesn't look like we can count on renting snow shoes there the way you can in Colorado. We found one place that does guided tours but that's very pricey...
But if it doesn't work out and we're only able to do some walks and drives to enjoy the scenery I know we'll still come home with some great photos and memories.
Well, wanted to get something (anything!) up here so that my travel journal is officially started and viewable. Done. Now back to packing!

Hi Karen!
Thanks for letting us view your adventures!! Have a super fun time!
SO glad to hear you guys are taking a well-deserved break! And I'm even more envious of your destinations - VERY cool! Sorry I didn't read your post earlier - I would have recommended doing a slow DHL to a strategically located post office. Would have cost a bit, but Chuck and I have found it really reduces baggage hassles. I cannot wait to see your traveling posts.
Stay safe and happy--

Karen...just because you are currently over the pacific, that is really not an acceptable reason for not updating your blog more often. We are dying to know. Mile high club? 30 hours should be enough time.
