We left from Milan to go Busseto (the birthplace of Verdi) where we went straight to the hotel just to drop off the luggage then headed to a cheese factory! It smelled SO bad in this cheese factory it was nauseating but the cheese was delicious! We went through the whole factory seeing each stage from bringing the milk in to the aging of the cheese. At the end we took a picture with the owners for a local newspaper and then we got to taste it! Their son, who was probably 16, cut this huge wheel little by little. It was crazy how much effort had to go into cutting it. There were a lot of flies (like there is in all of Europe) but besides that it was such a cool experience! I love the study tour in general because we do a lot of things that I would never just go on my own to do and we also get guided tours to actually learn about the places we are seeing rather than just seeing it and not even knowing what we are looking at.
Next we went to the Museo Barezzi where we were given a tour of the documents left behind by Verdi, his music etc, and the tour ended with a opera performance. It was awesome! My ear drums almost broke, but she had such a pretty and powerful voice! It is definitely something I recommend for everyone to see at least once live. We did a meet and greet with her at the end and she said she has been singing opera since she was only 10 years old. That is crazy! I dont even know how people are able to sing in such a way let alone a 10 year old.
After the performance we all went to dinner together at a restaurant in Roncole which is a small village near Busseto. We had a lot of food that was so good; all you can eat pasta, meat, bread, and tons of wine! It was a lot of fun! I really liked all the dinners that we had with our professor. It was nice to come together at the end of a busy day and sit down and relax with everyone. Overall I think Busseto was such a nice part of Italy that I was really surprised by  because when I think of Italy I automatically think of a place like Rome or Venice but seeing the countryside in Italy was a really neat experience.
