So we boarded the ship yesterday morning and then we had the whole afternoon to explore the ship. The ship is not as big as I expected but it is the fastest ship in the world. MY room is 3046 which means I'm on the third floor port side with a window. For all of you who don't know ship lingo port side is left and starboard side is right. I am becoming quit familiar with ship lingo already ha ha. I found out my roommate on the ship for the next three month's is this girl Stephanie who I met at the hotel Saturday night. She is from San Jose California and goes to UCSB. We get along great and I think its going to be fun being her roommate. Between the two of us we are very well prepared for anything to happen we both brought so much crap. I have been hanging out with a lot of her friends from UCSB. There are a lot of people from California and 41 kids from the University of Boulder (mom and dad I know u would be proud).Everyone I've met has been really cool and super friendly.
We left port at 5pm. The boat is a lot nicer then I expected and the food is yummy. Today we are just passing by Cuba we will be to Venezuela our first stop on Saturday morning. I haven't decided exactly what I will be doing in Venezuela. A few of us I think want to go to Margarita Island or I may decide to stay in Caracas with a few people. I have met so many awesome people already and we have only been on the boat for a day. Last night we sat outside near the pool on the top deck and looked at the stars and socialized. There are 7 floors on the boat; the pool is on the 7th. On the 5th and 6th floor are cafeterias and also on the 6th floor are the class rooms. We continue to get lost on the boat because most of the floors stops in the middle and you have to go up and down stairs to get to the other end. I met two of my teachers today who seem really cool.
My teacher for my American Foreign policy class is from Scotland and my teacher for my Politics of Southeast Asia is from USC I think. I have a lot of friends in all of my classes so I'm excited. Tonight we have our first geography class that everyone has to take. Tomorrow we start classes. The women with the annoying voice on the loud speaker just told us that we have 826 knot miles till we hit Venezuela. And it's 86 degrees out and the water is 89 degrees.
