Arrived in Moskenes 2 nights ago on the ferry from Bodo. Very dramatic huge black mountains and the sun even came out for a bit! Jumped in a maxi taxi to the hostel in Å (nae chance of camping this late in the season) and went for a walk to a lake for the sunset.
Yesterday the weather was great when we woke so took advice of hostel woman and armed with a 12 quid dodgy map, took off on a hike to Mukebu cabin in the mountains. Took a wrong turn right at the start which brought us to a 3 way junction of a river after about 2kms - thought about crossing and took practice goes at leaping 2 metres (!) then thought against it and finally found the right path! Amazing scenery, skirting lakes and over boulders and through forest. Ended up hiking up this huge mountain (which we were hoping to go round), in some parts they had chains to pull yourself up on! the rain (mostly just sprinkling) didnt help as made the rocks quite slippery, but was perfectly safe! Never made it to the cain cos of the 2 hour detour at the start and the rain was settign in, but rewarding view of a fjord and waterfall at the top anyway!
Spent all day today inside the huge 8 roomed cabin to ourselves - carlo with a nasty cold and me studying :) - due to the downpour outside.
