My flight out of Phoenix was delayed because of the ground crew by over an hour.  Since I only had 50 minutes to originally run across Charlotte International and get to my next flight, I was up a river without a paddle - it didn't help that my plane out of Charlotte left early, either!

It all worked out in the end, though, because I got to spend more time with my dear family in Charlotte!  My Uncle Peter came to pick me up at the airport and we stopped for Chick-fil-A on the way home.  There are not many things that will instantaneously bring a smile to my face like Chick-fil-A and good conversation with my uncle, and I had both in heaping portions.  On Saturday, my dearest cousin Anne took me on a driving tour of Charlotte and showed me all of the wonderful houses and roads.  I really enjoyed spending some time with her since she was all busy graduating from high school the last time we met.  We had lunch with Uncle Peter at a local pizza place and it was delicious, and then went out again for some Mexican (little did I know, the last and best Mexican food I'd be having for the next two months) and made it to the airport with perfect timing for my make-up flight.  Of course, Aunt Deb and I bickered the entire travel to the restaurant and airport.  I think she still loves me, even though I've won every argument we've ever had.

Finally, my flight to England was underway and went off without a hitch from that point onward.  I met a wonderful woman by the name of Della sitting next to me on the airplane who was from our destination.  We talked at length about British and American culture, the differences, the similarities, and what we liked and disliked about both.  Upon landing at Gatwick airport (I didn't sleep a wink, lucky me!), she did my mother proud by helping me navigate my new surroundings in every way she could.  She's a very sweet woman, and I hope we keep in contact.
