Day 24: Woke up to stunning mountain views! We had a lazy day of catching up on sleep and laundry.
August 14
Day 25: Clear weather as we packed our bags and got ready to climb Ben Nevis Mt. Hike started off easy, became steep and rocky, then flattened out near the loch before getting very steep nearing the summit. Lots of loose gravel made it easy to slip and lose your step. Very clear and beautiful views all around us. Mountain ridges staggered against light blue skies and distant misty clouds. Headed back down with only about 2 hours left of daylight. Took some shortcuts that turned out to be too steep and dangerous. Met up with the trail just before it began to rain. Once it stopped it was still dark so we used our head lights even though they were midge magnets! Made it down safely, took showers, and then went to bed with jellied legs still trembling.
