Llanberis, Wales

July 30

Day 10: Took a bus to backpacker's haven of Llanberis. Walked to campsite on sheep farm. Rain, rain, rain. The farmer here had a thick Welsh accent. Actually I think half of what he said was in Welsh. But still you understand that these showers cost 50p and you can't control the temperature, but the showers up the way cost 1pound and last 8min. Kyle used patches of sod to make a flat campsite.

Day 11: Woke up to roosters howling, rain pounding, sheep baaing. Soggy grass everywhere. Packed our bags and walked up the road to the path leading to Mt. Snowdon. Long and steep, misty and cool...good views, but lots of sheep turds. Finally made it to the top in a cloudy, windy, puff ball. Lots of slick slate stones and pebbles. Very rough on the knees as we climbed down. Huge bull cows only feet away from us...watching as we passed through the farm land. At the end of the day, it was still raining, all our gear was soaked..."rain proof" ponchos failed us. Getting annoyed at Welsh weather, have a bottle of wine, hope it helps. The rain brought out masses of slugs...and still....poop...pellet poop everywhere!! Disgusting.

Day 12: Dashed out of the tent between rain showers to make oatmeal in the bunkhouse. Then headed to town to spare ourselves of the depressing campsite. Sent some postcards and the postman had actually heard of Lincoln, Nebraska. Spent most of the day in an internet café called Pete's Eats. A great place. In the evening, met a British couple and chatted with them for a few hours before going to bed. Actually a clear evening without rain.
