26 on the 8th of feb and who'd have thunk i would be in sunny south africa! Thought we'd stick in a few pics of a very memorable day.
Started out a bit later than orginally intended, but by 9am we were at the bottom of lion's head and a mere hour later we were stting atop the rocks looking out over the georgeous blue ocean's slightly chilled just like the champagne and cheese rolls (budget's must- only 12p for 3 rolls!). The clouds were slightly overbearing but cleared for us to have great views of the 12 apostles (though shrouded while we were at the top), Table mountain, table bay, robin island and the Atlantic ocean!
After that we headed down to the waterfront- cape town's lovely seaside touristville, with posh restaurants, stacks of shops and a marina with a horde of people trying to get you to take their boat ride. We had lunch at the fabulous st elmo's (very similar to pizza hut but with a wine list!) where we had reasonably priced food and a bottle of wine. Unfortunately (more so for Lauren) we had to drink the bottle rather quickly as we were on a schedule and so both rather tipsily (Lauren more so) we headed to the aquarium which, should anybody try) is GREAT when you've had a bottle of wine! Quite surreal, but enjoyed it. Lauren was a little emotional at all the poor fish trapped and not able to enjoy the big blue ocean (whereas i thought htey looked rather smug at not having to constantly look over their fins to see if they're about to get munched. The poor turtle did look as if he needed rescuing- a forlorn creature, beautiful but seemingly wasted in a tank of water- and i had to restrain Lauren so that she didn't do the merry rescuing herself!
We grabbed some munchies and headed out into Table bay aboard the catamaran Tigresse on which we insisted on sitting up front for the entire duration of our vayage. We even got a complimentary glass of champagne which was great till the seawater splashing us started to overpower the delicate floral bouquet and long finish remeniscent of long autumn walks, anad reminded more of that taste when you lick your lips after a really long run! Bouncing about on the net bit at the front (proper naval term) was brilliant and the poor extended indian family inside the boat were really jealous. I could tell.
In the evenig we had a fantastic seafood dinner with ouma rounded off with an amazing creme brulee, and then straight home and asleep before i knew what hit me!
A great day!
