The bus was quite comftorable to my chagrin. :) We were expecting the chickens, faulty brakes...etc. At the border Daniel was interrogated for seriously and hour!! Because he is originally from Mexico. Apparentely they had just extracted the Mexican drug cartel from Nicaragua! Luckily Daniel is clean, and luckily they did not mistaken the advil for some illicit street drug!
We finally arrived in Rivas, Nicaragua at around 8 pm. We were in dire need of a "hospedaje" or "hotel." We didnīt expect much given that most Nicaraguan rooms were to have concrete floors, no hot water and limited electricty. This is exactly what we got! Perfect!
We met this AWESOME Swiss girl on the bus to Rivas who decided to stay with us. She is travelling all by herself! She has a husband back in Costa Rica...brave girl! After unloading our stuff in the room we headed out for dinner. Dinner Nicaraguan style! Which meant CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!! Even the cervesas were dirt cheap. :)
Our dinner came to a grand total of 150 cordobas which is the equivalent of only 7 American Dollars for all three of us!! Score! And it was good!
We returned to our hotel just in time for the 10 oclock curfew. Law enforcement is not active beyond that time I guess..
Tomorrow we head for the beautiful island of Omepete which is only an hour trip by ferry! Until then!

Hey Kyle, I posted a comment on this site about Nicaragua but didn't hear any response, so sent you an e-mail with the same stuff. It's about my 10 days in N. working with Latin America Child Care. Did you get it? How long are you there? Enjoy your outings as a threesome. I agree that your Swiss friend is gutsy-my kind of a gal. Have fun, we always remember you Daniel, Alex(and now your Swiss friend) in our prayers when we count our blessings.....
