So the guy come sin this morning and tells us we need to find another hostel. NO!! WE were finally settled. No need to move around from place to place...so we thought. I guess it ended up proving beneficial in the end since the hostel we found turned out to be wicked cool!! It is called "Hostel Amigo"...the same chain as we stayed in at Guatemala. The place was bouncing! So many cool people, with a bar, pool table, general hang out area, and internet! We were stoked.
After dropping our stuff off at the hostel we grabbed some lunch at a little eatery called "Vips." Being the budget travelers we are, we elected to get the Special! Enchiladas. Yummee. We downed them faster than that one guy who eats 50 hot dogs in like 5 minutes. Then we were out! Off to the museum we failed to explore the previous day. The walk up the hil was again quite arduous however this time we had Icees to cool us off. :)
We both got in for free! Because Daniel is a student, and I of course am an insane Maestro. The museum was really fascinating. Apparently it first served as a fortress that these 6 brothers held off against the Americans when they invaded in the late 1800s. Mexico is ours damn it!!!!
Other cool spots in the museum included some original paintings and decorations as the museum also served as a palace for the Mexican leaders (forgot to mention that before). There was a fantastic view of Mexico City from the front of the museum. I snapped a panoramic picture.
After the museum we drifted off to the major Basilica in the corner of the city. The Basilica was built for the Virgin Gaudalupe who apparently appeared to a priest in a vision. She asked him to build a major Catholic Church in the place where she appeared. It just so happened that she showed up RIGHT where the Aztecs used to venerate their gods. How convenient right!! What a great way to wipe out the memory of ancient paganism and idol worship. I hope you can sense my sarcasm.

After the museum Daniel and I headed back to Zona Rosa for some more food. :) We were so un- original becaue we found ourselves eating at the exact same restaurant. C^mon it is just too good of a people watching place!! We used our same rating system as before, however this time the selection was definitely better.
We saw this American looking group in the distance and decided to see what they were up to....it turned out that they were on a school tour of Mexico City. However, out of the 8 days they had been there, they had only "fed pepto bismal to the turtles." I found this to be completely un amusing. Typical Americans. They were from Iowa and did not speak a lick of Spanish. Yet it was a field trip for a Spanish Class!! Go figure!
We headed back to the hostel at around 8 pm but HAD to stop at the Zocalo! There was this amazing Aztec dance/ ritual going on in the plaza. Drums beated in unison while people danced to the rythm. It was AWESOME! Guess who joined them...ME of course!! Here is the video...

At around 9 pm we returned to the hostel. The hostel was absolutely insane!! Music blaring and SO much stuff going on! And the pool table was free! So you know where I went...straight to the pool table. Played nearly 5 games with the crappiest stick you can imagine, and the table...it was mended with duck tape. So maybe there are things that even duck tape cannot heal...the pool table being one of them.
Had some great conversations with some Englishman. It was funny. We played doubles, America vs. England. And they beat us!! But to our defense we played by "English Rules." If you have never played by such rules you are quite lucky. If you foul on the white ball, your opponent gets 2 free shots!! Ridiculous huh!!
Called it a night around midnight. Cannot wait to go out tomorrow night! And btw tomorrow is the walking tour of Mexico City....I should have a thousand more questions!
